Laura Lou Levy

Laura Lou Levy has a BA in Fine Arts from Indiana University, Bloomington and Universidad Complutense, Madrid, and an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn. A native of Kentucky, she spent years in New York City before migrating to New Jersey. Her work as a Senior Hedcut Illustrator for The Wall Street Journal for 36 years allowed her the unusual pleasure of making a living drawing pictures, for which she won numerous awards and was the subject of articles and TV news features. Her drawings and paintings have been shown in galleries, nonprofit spaces and museums, including The Newark Museum of Art, The Painting Center in NYC, Drawing Rooms in Jersey City, The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, and the Hunterdon Art Museum, to name only a few. Levy’s work has been mentioned, featured, and reviewed in publications including The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Star Ledger, and American Artist. It is in private collections in the US, Spain, England, France, and Israel, and in collections including Seagram, Dow Jones, Pinhook Distillery, and the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution.
