If you all remember last year, artists in the Village were invited to contribute a small art work to a basket that will be raffled off during the upcoming Art in Bloom event at the Montclair Art Museum as one of the honorees is our very own Philemona Williamson. The event takes place between May 16th and the 18th, includes a luncheon and a dinner, and the museum will be filled with floral displays inspired by art works on display. Last year we did a similar basket as Tom Nussbaum was the honoree, and I think everyone wanted a little more notice so that they could participate. SO ... Announcing this year's basket project. Any MV Artist can donate a piece (a gift in kind form will be provided so you can get a tax deduction for the work's fair market value). Size restrictions ARE IMPORTANT. Please make sure your work is no larger than 10 x 12" framed. If interested, please email me ley.jennifer@gmail.com with the Subject Line MVA Artist Basket for MAM 2024 to get a copy of the form. All works can be dropped off to the museum directly at the end of April, but I need to let them know who is participating by April 25th and turn in the forms in one batch to make it easier. There will be a drop off window of times and dates announced when I send you your form, so drop off will be easier this year. This series of events is the most important fundraiser for the Museum each year. I know it can seem like a big institution on the hill would have plenty of money, but MAM relies on the yearly gala for a good deal of program funding (I think you've all noticed the increased amount of events held at MAM and the wide range of community groups included. Thank you, and any questions, please feel free to email me. I'll also come back and check the forum periodically, but I can miss things in the threads. More information including lunch and dinner ticket prices and sponsorship levels can be found on the Museum's website, here: https://montclairartmuseum.org/art-bloom-2024 Jennifer Ley (hoping she can get back in the studio and make some new work herself at some point!)
